artcritical.com

Mention artcritical to people in the New York art community and one person will say, Yes, that's the list I use to find out what's showing in the galleries. Another will say, that's a great discussion forum that takes place at Brooklyn Public Library: critics get together and really hammer it out, debating current shows. A third person might say, it's a magazine on the internet, one of the first I think.

They'd all be right, in a manner of speaking. artcritical is the website where you find THE LIST, the most comprehensive resource of current art exhibitions in New York and its surroundings; news about The Review Panel and a complete archive of podcasts dating back to 2004; and a lively magazine of reviews, news, opinions, interviews, with archives going back even further.

As artcritical continues to grow in breadth and depth, the need becomes more acute to keep up to date with design, to clarify the tripartite nature of the site - magazine, panels, listings - and to make the reading and navigating experience as pleasant and fluid as possible for visitors on whatever choice of platform or device.

Our last design overhaul was in 2010 and it is time to freshen up. The work in coming along nicely. With a little help from our friends we can pay our design bills and be in good shape when we launch the new site in the spring to properly compensate our writers, listing editors and staff for their ongoing effort.

Join our community of readers, collectors, advertisers and enthusiasts and find your preferred way of offering "artcritical-support". Buy from our benefit show, take an ad, offer a donation, ask how you can get involved, recommend an intern: all such support keeps independent art criticism alive and is gratefully received.
